Jared Donovan

This is my personal website. For my job, I work as a lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology in the Interactive and Visual Design programme.

My Research

My research is concerned with finding different (and hopefully better) ways of interacting with computers. Despite the amazing advances that have been made in computer technologies over the past 30 years, the experience of interacting with computer systems often remains frustrating. I am especially interested in how a wider range of people's abilities for skilful physical movements could be used in computer interfaces - especially in how gesture and tangible physical manipulations could be used.

My Teaching

Currently, I teach subjects in the areas of Embodied Interactions, Tangible Media, Programming for Visual Designers and Artists, and Introduction to Web Design and Development.

I sometimes use this site for teaching resources. I list these here.

Gesture Data

I like to write computer programs. Some are listed on this page.

My Wordpress Blog

I keep a blog where I write about stuff that's happening.
